REVIVINg the ART OF NOTE CARD WRITING

MOMENTS OF BALANCE AND CONNECTION

NC23-OpenFlower.jpg

In today's culture, it seems even instant is not fast enough for information or greetings. When everything is so rapid-fire, finding a moment to slow down and appreciate the positive and negative events which shape our lives can be a project. That urge to create moments of balance and connection remains a necessary one. When doing so in writing, the photo cards you choose should be fashioned with equal attention. From Meghan Gibson Photo Designs you will find a selection of painterly distinct landscape, botanical, historic, teatime and devotional images you can explore in cards to fit any personal note writing, contemplation, gift-giving or collectors needs.

WAYPOINTS

My photo cards act as waypoints for people to explore their own memories when writing personal messages. They are a small stage to display some of the architecture, history and natural majesty I was able to witness on film. They capture precious moments of tranquility and calm or harness the thrill of new adventures.

IMPRESSIONISTIC APPROACH

Photography offers a time of full observance. A time where I am present to the right-now in front of a lens which is not hurried. I have more of an Impressionistic approach; each image carries its own mystery. They house a deep breath, if you will, where serenity can set in for the viewer. Even if that peace is only momentary. German film director Friedric Marnau said: “What you see on the set does not matter, all that matters is what is on the screen”. I would adapt his statement to: “all that matters is what is in the frame.”

PRECIOUS MOMENTS

Photography offers a time of full observance.

Landscapes, flowers or devotional images make me see my surroundings in crisper detail. For my perspective, the sun’s shading on flowers, historic buildings, windows, cathedral spaces, or gardens dance together so I see them like a painting. From these elements I choose the precious moment to capture. Photographs are not made purely by their careful composition. Instead, the excitement comes from my subject and its unexpected angles.

PLACES WHERE OUR LIVES JUST HAPPEN

Each image carries its own mystery, a deep breath if you will, where serenity can set in.

Taking photographs of landscapes make us more appreciative of the places where we feel our lives just happen. Watching for how the sun drapes itself like a lace skirt across a cart or plate of fruit. The delicate ballet of gold leaf on the crowded shelves of an antique bookshop. The way petals of certain color smolder and invite your gaze. The joy in a set of mismatched tea ware or curated tea table. Offering images with striking everyday details which create something beautiful is one of my goals. I only hope you can browse my photo card library for the perfect companion to writings about your own life events.

Enjoy and welcome to Meghan Gibson Photo Designs!
